AMC Is up 20% Today!
As of the time of this blog post AMC is now $32.21 and moving fast as people are still buying what was
once known as a "meme stock". I myself have invested in amc and I can see the real time results from my
robinhood account, however for those of you curious and would like to see the real time stats of amc as
well as many other stocks. You can watch them live on yahoo finance and I will post a link to them
below. I will also share links to solid investing youtubers that give all the latest news on amc as well as
other solid stocks to look out for and off course references to articles you can read. Amc jumped up 7%
in the pre market after an amazing week where it increased by 116.2%. According to Amc these new
funds they have recently obtained will be used to bring more value to the company through theater
assets and leases. Amc also said they will invest in some things that will enhance the consumer appeal
of it's theaters. This is great news and I truly believe that Amc can turn things around. To be honest I
really don't understand why Amc is considered a meme stock. To understand where I am coming from
here lets compare Gamestop and Amc. Now if any fellow gamers are reading this post today I think we
can all agree that Gamestop is a company with terrible business practices. You can trade in a $60 game
that game out the same week as release day and they will only give you $30 or less for it. There are also
videos from people who used to work at Gamestop that have talked about how they treat their
employees which in my case matched some of the things that friends and even family have told me that
used to work at Gamestop. I'll make sure I post a few video links you can watch and articles on
Gamestop as well so you can do your own research as well. We wont talk any more about Gamestop
but the links are at the bottom of the page and we will focus back on Amc. So for those who may not
know Amc was making money and not losing business prior to the pandemic. The country being on
shut down so long is what has been killing Amc. A movie theater that provides not just food but
alcohol makes for a real attractive business with recreational fun for family of all ages. I know here in
the state of Virginia Amc haves a program in the summer where kids at summer camps get reduce
prices on movie tickets, popcorn, drinks and candy to enjoy with their movie. As a fan of Amc as an
investor and a movie watcher I will Provide more updates on the stock as we progress through this
battle with the hedge funds. Oh, that's right I haven't mentioned the hedge funds or wallstreet bets and
the current battle for control of Amc yet have I? So just to provide a brief summary of the situation
as the pandemic slowly started to kill Amc the hedge funds were losing profits and selling their shares
off to trade into more profitable companies. With that going on this would have killed the Amc movie
theater and a lot of people would have lost their jobs. To be exact Amc haves been around since 1920
and currently haves 28,468 employees. This means the hedge funds would have made all those
unfortunate people lose their jobs. Money they depend on to support their families or if your single
food and rent. Fortunately the Team members of wallstreet bets had the idea to buy the stock at the low
price of $5 and continue to keep buying shares so that we the retail investors could gain control and
input on what we would like to see done in Amc theaters. Now we the retail investors hpld the majority
shares and AMC is showing that they are listening! If you want to join wallstreet bets and the fight
against the hedge funds I will leave a link to their facebook group to join.
