S.E.O stands for search engine optimization and is one of the most important skills that you can

rankings on Google, Yahoo, Bing and even some of the much smaller search engines as well. Fun fact:
Did you know that You tube is the world's second largest search engine? This makes sense considering
Google brought You tube for $1.6 Billion dollars back in 2006. You tube processes 3 billion searches
a month and provides analytics of who is watching your content, the age group of people watching, the
countries that are watching you most and even the gender of your audience! All very valuable
information for a business.
Improving S.E.O
There are a few ways you work to become seen on search engines. The common way you will see
from businesses are usually ads on Google and ads on Facebook. Now these methods can save you time
and guarantee you will be seen, however the people who see your ads may not be interested in your
content or what you are selling. The third route which takes more work and time will get you viewers
who are generally interested in what you have to say. To achieve this the first step is quality content.
If you prove to people that you are providing value to them, then they will share your content with
friends and family. This step always starts with a title for your blog or website that matches your brand
on what your content will be about. An example of this is my Business name is The Tech, so my blog
name is Ineedthetech. In my case my content is on ways to help grow your business, business news and
Investing news. Now you may be wondering how what I do correlates with my business name and in
this case it does not. That being said there is a work around to this and I am currently using it.
The trick here is to make sure that your meta tags and description match the topic that you are talking
about for each individual video or post that you write. Now what this would look like for example
using this article would be: What is SEO and how does it work? Internet search engines,
how to do SEO. Now before I forget let me make sure to tell you that, you should never guess what you
think people are searching for. You honestly wont need to either since Google will help you with this
as well as many other search engine tools. So to test this out try going to google search and type in any
thing that you would like to know about. At the bottom of the page Google will give you search
suggestions. These suggestions are usually the most searched questions based on your current topic
and once you use those you can also test them to make sure they work. to do this you will need an
S.E.O tool and there are a lot of free ones that will help you on your journey. The tool I use is called
S.E.O check. The tool scans your webpage, blog or You tube channel and gives a full report on
what you are doing well, what needs improvement and how to fix it. This app is available on google
play which is perfect for small tweaks to your content while you are on the go!
Backlinks
Backlinks are links on other webpages that link back to your content. To achieve this is surprisingly
simple. All that you have to do is simply share your content on different social media platforms.
So for example if you have a Facebook share your content there, Instagram same concept.
Most people naturally do this when sharing pictures with friends and family. If you apply that same
logic when posting links to your social media then it will help make your content searchable by search
engine bots. Now you may be asking what is a search engine bot and what does it do? To make
things simple search engine bots track every website on the internet. The more your links are found in
other places the more relevant the bots see your content to be. This is another reason quality content is
important! If you refer back to the improving S.E.O paragraph, I spoke about people sharing your
content with friends and family if they like it. That is the second way backlinks become created on
multiple platforms. The more the bots see your backlinks shared by other users the more your content is
seen as a more professional opinion on the subject matter.
It is important to use both methods because ranking up on search engines take time, usually 3-6 months
and that depends on a whole lot of different factors. Being that this has already been a long blog post I
will reveal that as well as more ways to optimize your content in a part two post some time next week.
