Nevada small business grant program buoys more than 9,000 organization across the State
LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and Treasurer Zach Conine highlighted the success of the State’s largest small business grant program in history, the Pandemic Emergency Technical Support (PETS) grant program.

Launched in October using $20 million in federal Coronavirus relief funds and aimed at providing more flexible grant money to small businesses, the program grew to more than $100 million in total funding, helping roughly 9,400 small businesses across the State.

“We will distribute the final funds in the coming days, but in total, almost 9,400 small businesses and non-profit organizations were able to receive assistance under this program which helped them make payroll, pay the rent and utilities, and keep their doors open throughout the pandemic,” Gov. Sisolak said. “This program saved a countless number of jobs and made it so many of our small businesses could see a light at the end of tunnel – but our work to support these businesses continues throughout our recovery.”

“In addition to being the largest small business assistance program in Nevada history, the PETS program provided a lifeline to businesses who were doing everything they could to stay open throughout the pandemic,” said Treasurer Conine. “I’m incredibly proud of the work that was done through this program, but we still have more work to do. That’s why we’re committed to talking to business owners across the State through the Every Nevadan Recovery Framework to find solutions to rebuild our economy stronger than ever before.”

A breakdown of grant awards from the program is below:

  • Disadvantaged businesses, defined as women, Veteran, minority or disability-owned: 4,907 (52 percent)
  • Bars and restaurants: 685 (7 percent)
  • Chambers of commerce: 31 (0.3 percent)
  • Non-profits: 657 (7 percent)
  • Arts and culture: 276 (3 percent)
  • Other businesses: 2832 (30 percent)
