Five Below has announced its opening date on a banner at its newly constructed store building in Main Street Oak Ridge: Friday, July 16.

The Oak Ridger has reached out to the company’s media office, but did not get a response before press time.
Horizon Center
In other business news, a new business is interested in several parcels of land at the Horizon Center, an area in west Oak Ridge managed by the Oak Ridge Industrial Development Board.
David Wilson, the board’s chairman, described the company as “extremely interested” in parcels five, six and seven and asked the board to give him the authority to negotiate with the company and for the company to do its due diligence work to consider the site. The Industrial Development Board approved this request unanimously.
Asked about the business, Wilson said, “It’s purely conversation.” He did not not name the prospect.
The Horizon Center has been a focus of attention recently. A plan to build a motorsports park complex on some of its parcels failed after the developer opted to go elsewhere. The area is zoned for industrial development and is adjacent to the Black Oak Ridge Conservation Easement.
